We walked to St dunstan in the east. A stunning WW2 bombed out church that nature has claimed back. Sat in the peace and chatted it was lovely to catch up with everyone
Next stop was the sky garden. The views were as stunning as always
Next to Leadenhall market.
We had time to kill before lunch so strolled towards the bank of England and the royal exchange. Found a stunning church on the way.
Outside the royal exchange there are 12 lamp posts on each lamp post is a plaque that represent the 12 livery companies. Also found the paparazzi dogs!!!
Had a beautiful lunch at Simpsons tavern
Next we walked to St Mary abchurch which has a beautiful ceiling.
We then decided to walk to St Paul’s and saw the London stone on the way and the green penfold post box!
Next up was the postman’s park. lovely place with plaques dedicated to people who died trying to save the lives of others.
It was then on to the barbican conservatory. I love this place didn’t think I would be able to ever go again as it’s usually only open on Saturday and Sunday and I work those days, but due to covid it’s open everyday at the moment.
We then made our way to kings cross where we parted ways. All the family got the train home and I stayed in London to see more!!!
First up was the elfin oak in Kensington Gardens, I loved it so intricately carved. Then a quick stop at primark and they had my vest tops in!!!! Then found a strange sculpture, birth place of J M W Turner the painter. Next found the bench for a chat with Oscars wild.
Thinking I was done I popped to Co op and bought dinner a reduced egg and bacon sandwich for 59p and a bottle of wine and a reduced tiger loaf 30p. Then I remembered I still had more to see!!! So instead of going to the embankment and sitting watching the world go by on the Thames I walked to Leicester Square. Found the smallest police station, saw what was on the 4th plinth and found the imperial measurements. Next up was to find the nose at admiralty arch but they are doing work on it. So walked down the mall.
Found the grave of the nazi dog. Well, I doubt the dog was a nazi, but his owner the German ambassador was.
At this point I am exausted and really regretting buying a bottle of wine! My shoulder and feet were really hurting!! But onwards!!! Finally made it to the memorial to the queen mother and George Vl, whow what a stunning memorial.
Finally my day was done. Everything hurt so walked through st James Park found a bench ate my sandwich, drank a glass of wine and relaxed. Eventually made it home having walked 11 miles!!!!
