ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Anita the author of Anita’s London Trips.
So how did this all start?
It started when my son was young, I have very little money and found out that I could pack a picnic and get to London and back for £16 and that included the underground and bus as much as we liked!!! I also found out that most of the museums are FREE in London!!! So, we would save up and every now and then have a day out in London, usually to the Natural History Museum!!
Fast forward many years and I was struggling, money was tight, I had my debts almost paid off, but it was taking a toll and I was having panic attacks, basically not coping.
I decided to do something about it, but what. I did not want to take pills from the doc, so what could I do?? I decided to go to London, I mean it can’t be that hard surely, I have done it before with a toddler and a buggy. I’ve been to France via the euro star with a toddler a suitcase and a buggy!!! I had been to Egypt, with a friend but I did it. Surely, I can go to London on my own!!! So, I saved up and I went to London!!
It was the scariest thing I had ever done up until that point, I went to the Natural History Museum. A museum I had been to countless times before with my son and I had a fantastic day, seeing the dinosaurs and all the artifacts. I had a rubbish camera phone and none of the photos were any good, but I had a fantastic day.
I started to go to London as often as I could afford (not very often) Time passed things got better, the debts were paid off and I amazingly had spare money and a better phone with a decent (for the time) camera. I found out that Classic Fm were doing a concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and I could get a restricted view ticket in the god for £15 (not reduced) so I treated myself and bought a ticket. That was the beginning of this adventure, everything was posted to my private facebook page for my friends and family to see and over time I found out about reduced theatre tickets and started to see shows and used the internet to find free and interesting things to see and do in London and my love of finding oddities was born!!
London is full of oddities!!! I have always loved architecture and statues, not so keen on art and I definitely struggle with modern art, I just don’t understand most of it!!! And best of all there is always something to see or find that is new in London!!!
About this site
How did the site start?
It all started on Facebook so my friends and family could see what I was up too.
Over the years I kept being asked if so and so could be my friend so they could see my London stuff. Of cause, I said yes, but it started getting too big. My Facebook page is totally private, I do not want strangers seeing pictures of my grandson, so, I took the plunge and started looking at how to create a blog.
This site has been created 100% FREE!!!
I have not spent a penny, which considering I have uploaded over 6000 pictures is very very impressive. The downside it is very restrictive and even more so because I do not have a laptop or a PC only my phone!!!! And somethings I can not do what a laptop or a PC can do. For example, I cannot change the font!!!! I HATE THE FONT!!!!! on the blogs but it’s what I have and its FREE!! I have tried everything, but I cannot do it on my phone and all the instructions are for a PC or laptop.
The important thing is that its up!! I am currently learning ticktoc and Instagram??? Tictoc was easy not so sure on Instagram, but I will get there.
Any way that my story. If you have any questions about anything, just ask me, there is no such thing as a silly question!!! It’s the only way you can learn!!!
